Reupholstering An Antique Rocking Chair
I picked this rocking chair up several years ago at a tag sale. It was just the perfect piece for my enclosed porch. Many mornings are spent sitting in this piece drinking coffee and answering emails.
The fabric I used for this project was from Greenhouse Fabrics . I painted the frame before reupholstering the piece and used Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint Lucketts Green. I love how the chippy nature of this paint has aged over time, it is not the look for everyone. You can find these paints sold by friend and paint teacher at Eight Hundred Furniture. I love how the chair turned out and as I mentioned I do enjoy having a cup of coffee while rocking on my porch.
The chair upholstery is very impressive. We use presses for our seats. We make the seats in the press and then attach them to the chair. Do you think you could do a pulled seat using particle board and attach it? We would would attach piping all the way around to cover the seat. Do you think a seat could be attached with T-Nuts if you used a thin enough wood?
Hello Richardson, For this chair I feel the eight-way tie springs are the best and most comfortable option. thank you for reading our blog.

Makes.me.realize I don’t want to do it. But, I admire you!
Getting my moms c1900 sofa reupholstered.(40th wedding anniversary gift.from.my daughter and sister.)
I love floral.prints; questioning reasonibleness of this idea with such a.large piece.
Opinions please?
Hello Judy, How sweet of your daughter and sister. I say put fabric on the piece that makes you happy. Rules are meant to be broken when it comes to creating something you’ll love for years to come.

Hi Kim I brought an old rocking chair from a second hand shop my wife wants to throw it out, but I told it’s worth something. How do I know it is worth anything and do you know who could give me a honest appraisal?
I am not good at appraising furniture. You might try reaching out to a local antiques dealer for advise. thank you for reading my blog.
