Reupholster an Antique Office Chair
Finding hidden jewels is one of my favorite past times. And by jewels I don’t mean gem stones.
The gem I am upholstering now is a piece Bill and I found in 2014 when we were poking around Asheville, North Carolina. No matter where I am the second-hand stores seem to call my name. This was a trip for an education event that I Co-Produced with my friend Susan Woodcock.
We drove our van from Massachusetts to Asheville, filled with supplies and samples for the upholstery classes I would be teaching at the retreat. The van was full just about to the roof with a club chair upholstery project, industrial sewing machines and sample ottomans for students to practice tying springs.
Being the great packer that I am, I can always find room for one more piece to bring back home!
During our recent Facebook Live filming, I started working on reupholstering this little beauty (We go live on FB every Wednesday at 12:30EST). Of course being someone who LOVES color, I had thought of putting different bold colored fabrics on this antique office chair, but our viewers agreed with Bill that brown leather would be the best choice. So brown leather it is.
Below you will find the first two live episodes where I am working on this chair. We usually air live weekly on our Facebook page until a project is done, but next week I will be in Sarasota, FL teaching a Small Chair Upholstery and Frame Painting Workshop. This means we have to skip a week. So if you would like to join me as I am finishing up this upholstery project live mark your calendar for February 8, 2017 at 12:30 EST and join us on our Kim’s Upholstery Facebook page.
Until then enjoy the first two recorded episodes below and I’ll see you on the 8th!
As always you can check out our online upholstery classes where you too can learn to turn those roadside treasures in to show pieces for your home, or better yet learn a skill that can earn you extra money!
