Parsons Chair Twins….REALLY!?

Why not add personality to your upholstery project? Upholster or reupholster a dining room chair in your own style!

Did you know you could create a new look for a piece of furniture by making a few simple changes? That is what I have done here with these Parsons chair frames purchased from Chervan.

These Parsons chair frames are exactly the same until you add the fabric and your own signature details.  The first one is done in a bold print fabric accented with a bright pink velvet.  The main fabric is also added as a banding detail with a faux button closer element on the outside back of the chair.   The seat is one piece of fabric with a decorative pleat detail on the front corners and a double welt accent on the front legs.  The inside back is finished off with a few pleats formed on the top rolled back.

The second Parsons chair also fashions the bright pink velvet, but with a very different feel. I choose a bold paisley for the inside back and seat.  As I am sure you noticed, this seat has a much more tailored look than the first one.

Using a boxed style seating gave me the opportunity to have more fun with fabrics.  I added the pink velvet and an unexpected contrast welt using a bold colorful stripe .   The end panels on the inside back were created using the same two fabrics as the seat boxing and cording.

When it came to the outside back I asked our followers on Facebook for input and chose a design suggested by Barbara during our Facebook LIVE.  I really like the whimsy that this envelope style detail added. But I couldn’t stop there! So I added a flange edge with a contrast button as well.

I have added the Facebook live videos below so you can see how the process went.  We would love to have you join us live every Wednesday at 12:30EST right on our Facebook Page.

Now I get to enjoy seeing how our online upholstery class members use this inspiration on their projects.
